At first I was a definite supporter of Ron Paul, that is until recent events came into light. As a citizen of the United States I refuse to vote for someone who blatantly does not support a woman's right to an abortion. Although Ron Paul has said that he will not impose his belief onto others and feels that it should be a state and not united decision, I don't think I can vote for a person who doesn't hold what I believe is an obvious human right. His recent "scandal" involving leaked discussions with a white supremacist group has also been a factor in why I have decided no longer to vote for Ron Paul. Paul has had excellent views on all other topics, and has been extremely consistent for the past twenty years, but these two slip ups are going to keep me from voting Paul for 2012.
Rick Santorum is also an obvious person I am not voting for. As a president, one should not blatantly express so much hate for one community, and in Saturum's case it's his blatant hate for the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) community. He also believes that abortion should not be a human right, and that it is responsible for the downfall of Social Security.Santorum also believes that the access to women's birth control is destroying the morals of our country. If elected president, he has also promised immediately order Iran's nuclear facilities to be bombed unless they are opened to be inspected by the United States. He has also generalized the African American community for being responsible for half of welfare abuse.
Mitt Romney has been one of our most unstable candidates by far. He constantly flip-flops on major issues, such as abortion, depending on what is going to make himself look better in whatever interview he's speaking in. He also also said that he does not care about the poor percentage of America, and considers them a "safety net" for America.
So who will I be voting for? Plain and simple. Current president Barack Obama. A lot of people say that as a president he hasn't done much, which I completely disagree with. I feel that he is the most easily approachable president, who has accomplished so much that is overlooked in four years. So far, he has expanded hate crime laws to include sexual orientation, has signed financial reform law prohibiting banks from engaging in proprietary trading, has cut prescription drug costs for Medicare holders up to fifty percent, provided the Department of Veterans Affairs with more than $1.4 billion to help provide services for America's Veterans, has provided healthcare for up to 11 million children with the Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act., and has repealed Bush's restrictions on stem cell research. These are a fraction of all of the things he has done in the past four years and people seem to overlook all of these facts, but this upcoming November, these are the facts that I am going to remember.
